The Parse and Facebook teams will be busy in the month of September and we hope you can join us at some of the awesome events we are both hosting and attending. We'll have Parse and Facebook team members on hand at all of the following:
We're excited to be hosting our first annual Parse Developer Day in our hometown of San Francisco at the beginning of the month. During a jam-packed day of developer-focused talks, tracks, keynotes, panels, and a few surprises, attendees will be able to learn about Parse for the first time or delve into more detailed Parse functionality, depending on their needs. Tickets are extremely limited, so register today if you'd like to join us on September 5th!
While the Boxworks conference is focused on the future of the cloud, Box Developer Day focuses more specifically on the enterprise app. We're thrilled to attend and talk about how easy it is to get an enterprise-level app up and running with Parse. We're also partnering with Box to bring you VIP access to tickets for the event, register here with the promotional code "Box13parsedevs" for your tickets today.
TwilioCon - September 17-19, 2013 - San Francisco, CA
In its third year, Twiliocon is a great, three-day learning opportunity focused on the future of communication services in both mobile and web. We'll be on hand to discuss all things Parse, including our Twilio Cloud Module for easy Twilio-Parse integration. Parse Software Engineer Thomas Bouldin will also be giving a talk, "Twilio and Parse: Creating Rich Experiences in & out of Native Clients" and we'll be helping to sponsor the Hacker Olympics. Join us at TwilioCon with 25% off tickets by registering here.
MHacks - September 20-22, 2013 - Ann Arbor, Michigan
We know first-hand how useful Parse is at hackathons, so we can't wait to attend MHacks, the largest hackathon in the country, where we'll be joining 1,000 developers for a 36 hour hackathon at the largest sports stadium in the US. We'll be both presenting and judging, as well as on hand to answer questions. The Facebook recruiting team will also be with us, so please drop by and chat with us at our booth.
We hope to see some of you at the events and hackathons we're attending this month! If you have any questions, please email us at community@parse.com.

This week, we wanted to give you a quick heads-up on how we are approaching iOS 7 for the Facebook SDK. We also updated our Promotions Guidelines to remove the requirement that promotions on Facebook may only be administered within apps.
Upgrade Your Facebook SDK for iOS 7
As the Gold Master release of iOS 7 approaches, we've been focused on fixing bugs as we find them rather than waiting for the release. While iOS 7 still remains a moving target, our goal is to give you the best bits as early as possible.
If you are updating your app for iOS 7, we recommend that you also upgrade to our Facebook SDK 3.7.1 or newer. As of 3.7.1, we've fixed our last known iOS 7 bug in the library portion of the SDK. While we still have a few bugs in the samples, these should not impact your apps. You can download our latest Facebook iOS SDK here.
Promotions and Platform Policy Updates
We updated our Promotions Guidelines by removing the requirement that promotions on Facebook may only be administered within apps. With the change, promotions may now be administered on Page Timelines and in apps on Facebook, but not on personal Timelines. In addition, we've updated our Platform Policies to allow developers to use data received from us in advertisements, but only with explicit consent from that person. Learn more here or watch a video on the changes.

Facebook is committed to helping game developers build gaming experiences that seamlessly connect players across web and mobile platforms. More than 260 million people are playing games on Facebook each month - a number that continues to rise. One of the fastest growing categories of games on Facebook are the highly sophisticated, 3D games often labeled as core and mid-core. To support game developers building core games, we've teamed up with one of the leading game engines, Unity, to give Unity developers easy access to Facebook's social and identity features.
Announcing a cross-platform SDK for Unity games
Today, at Unity's developer conference, Unite, in Vancouver, BC, we launched a new cross-platform SDK that makes it faster and easier to integrate your Unity game with Facebook. Whether you're building on iOS, Android, web, or all three, the SDK lets you continue to write in C# and provide social game experiences to all your players, regardless of the platform they play on.
Already, Cmune's UberStrike, Madfinger's Shadowgun:Deadzone, and Nival's King's Bounty: Legions have integrated the SDK with their games.
Madfinger's Shadowgun: Deadzone on Facebook.com and iPad Bring mobile games to Facebook's web audience with one click
The number of active Facebook users with Unity installed more than tripled in the first half of 2013, and today more than 90 million monthly active users have Unity installed on the web. Facebook has a relevant and engaged audience of gamers that mobile developers can reach by publishing their games on Facebook, and the SDK makes bringing a mobile game to web as simple as writing one line of code. By filling out a few fields in the developer app and giving us the URL of your game object, you can bring your mobile game to a whole new audience of avid gamers on Facebook. Madfinger used the SDK to bring their mobile game Shadowgun:Deadzone to Facebook.com, opening up a new growth platform for the game with minimal effort.
Provide a more immersive web gaming experience
As more graphics-rich web games come to Facebook.com, players want to stay immersed in the game experience while connecting with friends, and the SDK helps you do that. We've built native Unity dialogs for inviting friends, requests, and sharing, so people can stay in full-screen mode when they interact with social features, creating a richer, smoother web game experience for players.
We're also helping more people find and play Unity games on Facebook by driving discovery of the Unity player with a custom install flow for the Unity plug-in.
Get started
Get started connecting your gamers with their friends across platforms by downloading the SDK from our developer site or from the Unity Asset Store and reading our documentation.
Parse plugin coming to Unity
At the Unite conference, Parse also announced plans to release a Parse Plugin for Unity that will extend the Parse backend to web and mobile Unity developers. With the plugin, developers can store data, authenticate users, and easily implement advanced backend features such as saving high score data, saving game states for continuous play, and dynamically enabling and disabling a/b testing. The plugin will become available to developers in the coming weeks.
